Time Travellers.

The article discusses the making of "Saputi," one of a series of dramatic videotapes begun in 1986 to portray the traditional life of the 1,100 Inuit living in the area surrounding Igloolik, a small island and fishing port in northeastern Canada above the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories. Family and cross-generational participation is central to the making of the videotapes. Details regarding performance, dialogue and authenticity are discussed before each scene is videotaped and decisions are made by consensus in response to the knowledge and experience of elders.
