Abstract
- A literary criticism of the play "Long Day's Journey into Night," by Eugene O'Neill is presented. It explores the use of allusion in the play and outlines the ways in which O'Neill constructs gendered space using dialogue. The author argues that the marked difference between male characters' prolific use of allusion and the lack of allusions in the character Mary's dialogue reinforces the gendered nature of language in the play.
