Abstract

The St Louis International Lung Transplant Registry was begun inn 1988 and contains information from 1983 when the first successful single lung transplantation was performed for a patient vith pulmonary fibrosis. As a voluntary registry it helps to document the indications, complications, and results of lung transplantation. Since that first transplant in 1983, transplantation has become a viable alternative for patients suffering with end-stage lung disease. The following information is based on data reported to the Registry from 121 centers, as of 1 January 1995. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
