Abstract
- The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "she being Brand," by American poet E. E. Cummings in light of his perspective on Modernism as well as the poem's use of deviation and conceit and its disregard for syntax. The author provides explication of the poem and suggests that on the surface it depicts a driver's first time driving an automobile, while a second meaning of the poem is based on the experience of sexual intercourse with a woman.
