AEA BEGINS PROCESS OF SELECTING NEXT DIRECTOR GENERAL.

The article reports that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has started the process of appointing IAEA Director General for four years beginning December 1, 2009. The term of office of IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei will expire on November 30, 2009. Taous Feroukhi, newly-elected chairman of the IAEA Board, has informed Governors that the closing date for submitting nominations has been set for December 31, 2008. The Board intends to make an appointment by June 2009. The appointment will be submitted for approval at the IAEA General Conference in September 2009.
