Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) component alone without the contribution of the central nervous system (CNS) network. Mammalian cRNA of the most common hippocampal NMDAR compositions NR1-1a/NR2A and NR1-1b/NR2A were injected into Xenopus laevis oocytes. According to the researchers, increased NMDAR response, in addition to other mechanisms, plays in important role in high pressure neurological syndrome (HPNS).
