Abstract

The article details a study which investigated the epidemiological patterns of caprine brucellosis in a non-vaccinated area of Bustamante in the State of Tamaulipas, Mexico. The study collected serum samples from unvaccinated four-month-old to five-year-old goats from 27 rural communities between June and December 1999. Using the Rose Bengal Test with three percent cell-concentrations, the presence of antibodies against Brucella abortus was identified. The study found that the seroprevalence of brucellosis was associated with female goats.
