Abstract

Presented is the derivation of a 2-point block method based on Backward Differentiation Formula (BDF) for the numerical solutions of stiff ordinary differential equations (ODEs). In a 2 point block BDF, two solution values are produced simultaneously in a single iteration of the algorithm. The efficiency of the 2-point block BDF is compared with the nonblock BDF method. Numerical results indicate that the 2-point BDF method reduce the execution time and reduce the number of integration step. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
