Battlefield-promotion pilot program now policy.

The article reports on the move by the U.S. Army to make the promotions of combat soldiers to staff sergeant and below a part of its policy after a pilot program. A total of 912 active and reserve soldiers were promoted while deployed to the combat theater in the Middle East under the program. The Army Central Command commander will be responsible for the final approval for such promotions. The primary eligibility criteria in the enlisted promotions regulation or AR 600-8-19 should be met by those recommended for promotion.
