Abstract

The article presents a case study which investigated the case of a 17-year-old, gelded Quarter Horse cross diagnosed with equine gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). The horse exhibited symptoms of mild colic, weight loss and chronic anemia. Findings showed a large mutlilobular mass originating from the transverse colon of the horse, requiring surgical excision and the presence of benign highly-cellular, neoplastic spindle-cell proliferation in the mass.
