Abstract

The article discusses studies on sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer patients. One study determined the minimum number of radioactive sentinel lymph nodes (SLN) to excise to ensure accurate axillary staging of SLN-positive patients. Another research highlighted the benefits offered by intraoperative sub-areolar injection of technetium-99 m sulfur colloid (Tc-99) to breast cancer patients. Another study assessed the implications of a reoperative SLN biopsy (SLNB) on patients.
