Abstract

The article presents a study on the intergenerational relationships of ambivalent solidarity and family enlightened despotism for the protection and independence of elderly. It states that families have the full responsibility to take care and protect the elders. It also notes that passive attitude of an elderly caused by fatigue and disease, assumption of families in their protective roles, and weak rules of autonomy are the factors of family enlightened despotism.
