Abstract
- The article focuses on one study which attempts to detect leptospiral DNA in the kidneys of wild boars and deer using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The detection, accordingly, is for the purpose of assessing the potential role of these animals as reservoirs of leptospires throughout Japan. Kidney tissues from wild boars and deer were examined during the study. Methods such as DNA extraction and data collection were also conducted. Results revealed that Leptospiral flaB was detectable in the kidneys of wild boars. They stressed the fact that wild boars do act as reservoir animals of leptospires in many areas in Japan.
