Abstract

The article presents a case study about fungal keratitis in a gopher tortoise (gopherus polyphemus). The subject was presented for trauma and blindness. Ophthalmic and histologic examinations reveal bilateral corneal ulcerations and scarring, and a necrotic conjunctivitis with intralesional fungal hyphae. It suggests that this was the first report of fungal keratitis in a wild reptile and a gopher tortoise.
