Abstract

The article reports on the issue concerning the plan of the government to run the prisons by private companies in New Zealand. It notes that the Public Service Association (PSA) questioned the government's plans, saying that it will cost taxpayers more and provide a worse service. It mentions that steps are undertaken to allow private companies bid for prison management contracts. It adds that the last time the prison was under private management, it costs 43,000 dollars per in mate.
