Abstract

The author examines the findings of several studies on the role of adenosine receptors and epoxyeicosatrieoic acids (EET) on the regulation of blood pressure and salt in the body. He cites findings that increasing dietary salt in Dahl salt-resistant rats demonstrated increased EET levels in the cortex and medulla show signs of hypertension. Another study found that decreased tubular sodium reabsorption resulted from increased sodium excretion in response to dietary salt.
