Abstract
- Chapter 2 of the book "The Black Butterfly: Concepts of Spanish Romanticism" is presented. The chapter discusses the concept of perfectibility in the arts. It cites the theorists that advance the idea of perfectibility, including Friedrich von Schiller as contained in his writing "On Naive and Sentimental Poetry" and Johann Gottlieb Fichte as shown in his work "Lectures on the Vocation of a Scholar." The ideological differences between the classicists and the romantics are also cited.
