Abstract

The article offers information regarding gopher tortoises in Useppa Island, Florida. It states that gopher tortoises are consummate diggers and their habitats were covered up with native grasses. It mentions that these animals were listed as either endangered or threatened under the Gopher Tortoise Council. Furthermore, it notes that they spent their time underground in well-drained terrain excavating holes 10-feet in depth and 40-feet in length.
