Abstract

The article offers information on several types of salivary gland diseases, including mucocele, mucus retention cyst, and sialorrhea. Mucocele is a disease in which mucus extravasation into periductal soft tissue produces a local inflammatory response. Mucus retention cyst is a condition which shows dilatation of salivary excretory duct due to obstruction, in which it can be treated by excision of cyst with adjacent glands. Sialorrhea is caused by parkinsonism, expectorants, and stomatitis.
