Rational stiffness of outriggers in high-rise structure with strengthened stories.

Based on theoretical analysis results of simplified planar structures with strengthened stories, main parameters that affect the structural performance are selected for analyses. Sap2000 is adopted for FEA analyses. According to FEA results of an outrigger braced high-rise structure, the outrigger stiffness should be within a rational range to save costs and the large lateral stiffness of the structure is provided. The proposed rational stiffness can be applied to the structural design if the stories adjacent to the strengthened ones are properly strengthened.
