Abstract

Chapter 7 of the book "Migratory Fishes of South America: Biology, Fisheries and Conservative Status" is presented. The geography of the Colombian Amazon and the fish species that have inhabited there are discussed. The Colombian Amazon consists of 5.6 percent area of the entire Amazon Basin and has been a breeding ground of several kinds of fish including the pellona, the Brycon cephalus and the branquinha.
