Abstract

The article discusses a study to determine if a relationship exists between consumption of soybean products and gastric cancer. It states that previous studies on the matter were flawed, due to errors in questionnaires and degree of bias by researchers. Information was obtained from the Korean Multicenter Cancer Cohort, and relied on 131 cases compared with a control group of 393 people. Research found that high amounts of isoflavones found in soybean food products actually decreased the risk of gastric cancer, showing it to be a healthy food.
