Abstract

The article focuses on the soldiers from the department of Eure, in Normandy, France, during the revolution (1789-1799), and discusses the help organized in the area in order to provide them with clothes, equipment, and armament. The author explains that the revolutionary armed forces of France were composed by volunteers who were missing about everything, causing the authorities to worry about a massive desertion. Amongst the measures taken to remedy this situation, were the requisition of tailors, shoemakers, and workers, in order to maintain the number of soldiers into battle.
