Abstract
- This article offers the insights of poet Giselle Maya regarding her life and work. Maya says that poet Robert Spiess became her first mentor in writing haiku and the one who published her first haiku in the book "Modern Haiku." Maya says that she lived in Japan for two years during the 1970s with her family where she mastered her calligraphy. Moreover, Mays mentioned several of her books with calligraphy or illustrations including "Sacred Trees," "Just Enough Light" and "The Four Seasons."
