Abstract

The article discusses a study that investigated the effect of acetonic extract of Polyalthia longifolia leaves in the treatment of duck pasteurellosis. Acute toxicity studies show that the extract was safe up to a dose of 5,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). The number of birds that survived at a dose rate of 400 mg/kg was comparable to that of the sulpha trimethoprim combination treated group. The study suggested that the Polyalthia longifolia extract at a dose rate of 400 mg/kg is most the effective in treating duck pasteurellosis.
