Abstract

The article focuses on mating management in dairy farms in New Zealand to improve mating performance. It explains how successful mating management can lead to more milk production and profit for farmers. Compact calving is essential to successful mating because it will gives cows longer time to recover from calving to mating. Farmers are advised to review the current pre-mating heat detection process with all farm staff. It outlines the options available for farmers in dealing with non-cyclers.
