Abstract
- The article examines the subject of research governance in biotechnology in Egypt as a case study for developing countries. It notes the important role to be played by biotechnologies in economic development in domains such as agriculture and health in Egypt. It shows that Egypt already has at its disposal all the essential elements required for the development of a biotechnology sector. It describes biotechnology research and proposes a typology of Egyptian laboratories. It also highlights elements that can explain inefficiencies of research governance.
