Abstract

Fekete-hegy is located at the central part of the Bakony-Balaton Highland Volcanic Field (BBHVF). The volcanic complex of Fekete-hegy comprise at least 3 maar/tuff rings and 2 eroded Strombolian-type scoria cones from the Pliocene age. This paper is focused on degradation of these two eroded scoria cones (Boncsos-teto, Gajos-teto) from morphometrical point of view. According to morphometry of present remnants (mostly Wco) with Porter's equations the original geometry of the scoria cones were established. We could calculate erosion rate of the study localities on the basis of differences between present and supposed original size of the cones. Possibly asymmetric profile of Boncsos-teto is caused by several processes including: (1) deflection of ash by wind drift; (2) phreatomagmatic stage(s) during the emplacement of the cone; (3) asymmetric location of welded structures within the cone; (4) truncation of adjacent volcanic eruption(s) or (5) post-volcanic landslide(s). Finally, differences in present shape and morphometry between Gajos-tetõ and Boncsos-teto we could interpret as Boncsos-teto have to be younger than we have considered in previous.
