Abstract
- The article discusses the popularity of forward capacity auctions in the electric industry in the U.S. and the competition in relation to regional transmission organization (RTO). It mentions the case of generators Duke Energy and FirstEnergy which decided to leave Midwest ISO (MISO) in favor of PJM Interconnection. According to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) chairman Jon Wellinghoff, the move was actually a good thing since utilities should be free to pick the most competitive RTO.
