Abstract

In a study involving 66 patients experiencing dry mouth, daily supplementation with 100 mg of either ubiquinone or ubiquinol (two different forms of coenzyme Q10) for a period of 1 month was found to be associated with significantly improved salivary secretion and salivary coenzyme Q10 content. The authors conclude that these results suggest that, "orally administered CoQ10 was transported to the salivary glands via the blood stream and exerted its activity, improving salivary secretion." Additional research is warranted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
