Abstract

The article discusses the different economic challenges facing Chancellor George Osborne and the British government. It suggests that the government plans should aim at achieving growth to reduce public spending and to deal with the economic turmoil. It emphasizes the importance of flexibility in confronting these challenges in an uncertain world. Also explored are the decline in the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) and the role of education and skills in recovery process.
