Abstract

The author reflects on the rising political power of the Greens in Australian politics. The Greens and politician Malcolm Turnbull are cited as the only ones with real credibility with the electorate on global warming. He cites the role of the undermining of the authority of the members by the senators in the decline of the Australian Democrats and the rise of the Greens. He stresses the need for the Australian Labor Party (ALP) to realise the impossibility of regaining its power in both houses.
