Abstract
- The article examines the principles of political rhetoric and the thought of philosopher and writer Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The author looks at how political rhetoric is used by governments in order to shape citizen behavior and how the anti-Aristotelician rhetoric of Port-Royal inspired Rousseau. Topics include Rousseau's books "Émile, ou de l'éducation" and "Du contrat social" and his address to Corsicans during which he intends to reshape their thinking and re-awaken national pride. Also discussed is Rousseau and classical rhetoric.
