Abstract
- The article discusses a study on the role of C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) counts as markers of inflammation in experimental pancreatitis induced in dogs. The municipality of Stara Zagora in Bulgaria has provided the experimental animals. Results showed that the induced aseptic inflammation has influenced blood CRP concentrations significantly. The surgical induction of the pancreatitis has resulted to a dramatic increase in WBC counts as confirmed by gross examination and histology. The article points out the stability of CRP concentrations compared with the WBC numeration as biomarkers of inflammation.
