Abstract
- The article discusses the intensifying political tremors in the Fukushima Prefecture as thousands of parents in the area demand that the government of Japanese Prime Minister Kan Naoto reverse a decision to increase radiation limits for schools in the area by 20 times. It cites the resignation of the government advisor Kosako Toshiso who denounced the prime minister's "whack-a-mole" policies on the crisis and pointed out that the increased acceptable annual radiation exposure is inconsistent with internationally commonsensical figures. It mentions plans by parents and lobbyists to meet with government bureaucrats on May 2, 2011 to demand the withdrawal of the radiation standard.
