The article offers recommendations for enhanced public-private partnership in standards development the U.S. It discusses the seven policy-related recommendations which include the need to meet regulatory needs and policy challenges, the ability to chose from a broad portfolio of relevant standards, and redirect funding for strategic government engagement. It offers the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) International as the model for joint standards development work.
