Abstract
- The article discusses about the impact of the contraction of pathogen Mycobacterium salmonphilum in burbot, a fish species common in Norway. The pathogen can cause the disease piscine mycobacteriosis, known as fish tuberculosis, on salmonid fish species. Results of the study show that sampled numbers of burbot from lakes Mjøsa and Losna in Norway from 2005 to 2008 had a fish tuberculosis prevalence of 18.6 and 3.3 percent, respectively, wherein the factors that are connected with the infection include skin ulceration, acid-fast bacilli, and cataract.
