Abstract

The author comments on what the proponents call the Amazon tax. The tax applies to purchases made over the Internet by consumers not located in the state where the retailer is based. The tax is supported by traditional brick-and-mortar retailers. According to the author, the tax is also supported by legislators who have a desire to find new ways to get money out of the private economy and into government operations and programs.
