Abstract

The article discusses a study on migration of the White Stork or Ciconia ciconia and the Black Stork or Ciconia nigra during spring over the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, Turkey. The number of migrating White Storks increased to 119,381 in 2008. However, the number was less than half in 2006 and 2009. A total of 1,118 Black Storks were counted in 2006 and 3,052 in 2008. The median of the White Stork's spring migration between 2006 and 2010 was April 6 and April 17 for the Black Stork.
