Abstract

The article focuses on the operations of the American Airlines Wheel & Brake Center. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the company repairs defective and worn wheels and brakes from planes such as the MD-80 and Boeing 737, 757, 767 and 777. It describes how wheels, tires and brakes are moved, cleaned, disassembled, repaired and recycled through an organized system. It also discusses the high-volume cleaning, and ultrasonic and eddy current inspection capabilities of the center.
