Abstract
- The article focuses on the first round of free elections in Egypt since the overthrow of former President Hosni Mubarak in which Islamists got more than 65% of the vote. The Freedom and Justice party (FJP) got the most votes while the Salafist Nour party came in second. Reformist leader Mohamed ElBaradei is hoping that moderate Islamists will rein in the extremists.
