Abstract
- The article presents a study using molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with DNA-binding gadolinium chelate (Gd-TO) to specifically detect the exposed DNA in acutely necrotic cells in vivo. The study involved 20 mice with myocardial infarction (MI) injected with Gd-TO at varying time points with MRI done two hours after probe injection. Gd-TO is found to specifically bind to acutely necrotic cells and can be used to image the cell death mechanism and chronicity in injured myocardium.
