Abstract

The article discusses a research study on oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) detection in colorectal tumors. Examined was the association of HPV infection and colorectal polyps in 167 patients with colorectal adenoma, 87 with hyperplastic polyps and 250 polyp-free controls through real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. Conclusions indicated the absence of etiologic relationship between colorectal adenomas or hyperplastic polyps and HPV infection.
