Abstract
- The article looks at how the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920) is being told to Mexican School children through the analyses of school textbooks and their iconography. It examines two elementary school history textbooks dedicated to the Revolution's centennial entitled "Historia, Cuarto grado, México 2010, Bicentenario Independencia, Centenario Revolución" and "Historia, Quinto grado, Bicentenario Independencia, Centenario Revolución." It discusses some of Mexico's educational changes under the presidency of Mexican President Adolfo López Mateos from 1958 to 1964, the repetition of certain iconographical documents and stories in Mexican textbooks over time, and the portrayal of revolutionary heroes.
