Ophthalmic and anesthetic evaluation of topical 1% tetracaine and 0.5% proparacaine in dogs.

The article discusses a research study on evaluating the action of 1% tetracaine eye drops combined with 0.1% phenylephrine in two posologies and their effects as compared to using 0.5% proparacaine drops in dogs. Subjects were divided into the TG group of 11 dogs with tetracaine combined with phenylephrine instilled in the eyes and PG group of 11 dogs instilled with proparacaine. Results showed no adverse reaction in the PG group and chemosis triggered in 36% of TG group dogs.
