Abstract

The article discusses the use of armor in the final years of the existence of South Vietnam from 1972-1975 by the U.S., Army of the Republic of Vietnam, and North Vietnamese Army. With a study revealing that over 46 percent of South Vietnam terrain was traversable by armored vehicles, the U.S. used armored units and tanks designed for high-intensity conflict in Europe. High losses of men and vehicles resulted from continuous front-line exposure of armored units in static defensive positions.
