Abstract
- The article reports on the U.S. military forces' plan to reduce fossil fuel dependency on the battlefield with rapidly deployable renewable energy power. Sharon Burke, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans, emphasizes the need to reduce the military's demand for energy in military operations. The Solar Portable Alternative Communicatins Energy Systems (SPACES) and the Ground Renewable Expeditionary Energy Systems (GREENS) are described.
