Abstract
- The article reports on the increasing prevalence of cryptosporidiosis among humans and animals in India. The condition, caused by the coccidian parasite Cryptosporidium, has been reported to have caused neonatal diarrhea in livestock and has also caused livestock mortality. Among humans, children and HIV-infected patients were found to be the most affected. Contact with infected animals, contaminated water and unsanitary conditions have been identified as factors behind the spread of infection.
