Abstract

In the opening part of the article is describing universal character of world circus, its ancient times history, medieval relief and the founding of basement of traditional circus in round manege by John Astley (1766). But main importance is taken to development of artistics and similar performing arts in Czech environment from last 18th century to 50ies of 20th century, when all private companies were so called nationalized.Common early history of Czech traditional puppeteers and artists is described there as basement of Czech national character of this kind of performing art. Artist programmes of Summer theatres (arenas) on the borders of Prague. Traditional Circus Dynasties - Berouseks and Kludskys and their importance in Czech circus history. The greatest Czech Circus company - Kludsky - and its downfall in 1934. The end of era of Czech circuses like a branch of private enterprise. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
