Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the Canine Influenza A virus (CIV) subtype H3N8 hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay using field sera from canine infectious respiratory disease outbreaks and assess the effect of the test parameter variations. Based on the characteristic analysis using serum microneutralization assay, it describes H3N8 CIV HI as highly specific and sensitive. It concludes that the specifity of H3N8 depends on serum pretreatment with a receptor-destroying enzyme.
